Donut King Leichhardt reaches 10 year milestone and 250 000 coffees

MarketPlace Leichhardt Franchise Partners Hetal and Sanjay Rathod, have been making noise amongst a busy competitor landscape in NSW selling half a million donuts over the last five years.

The DK duo are celebrating ten years with the brand and aside from the high volume of donuts sold, they’ve also enjoyed serving out a whopping quarter of a million coffees to their thirsty community over the last five years.

“Coffee has been a consistent performer for us and we know how important it is to our customer’s day, and so we do what we can to bring them happiness with each cup of coffee.”

“Even though we’re in a food court, we wanted to maintain that tradition of table service with a smile, and always adding a special touch to every order,” says Hetal.

This DK couple attribute much of the business’ success to their strong customer service ethos and their coffee artwork.

“We might stencil a message onto coffee foam that says ‘good morning’. Sometimes a husband will receive their coffee with the message ‘you’re cute’ and we giggle when his wife gets a little bit jealous – that tends to get a laugh out of them and we just love to hear that from our customers.”

Sanjay, Hetal, Kamal, Aman, Ben and Shubham are the all-star team behind DK MarketPlace Leichhardt. Each of the team bring their unique personalities and skills with them every day and this has helped to shape their deep connection with their shoppers.

“Our community loves cinnamon donuts. We knew that we had something special going on and we have loved introducing the treat to the Leichhardt community.”

“Being active in a community for this long has meant we’ve gotten to know our shoppers well.  We became aware of a difficult situation that one of our customers was going through with their child who was suffering from a heart condition. Their story touched us, and we knew we just had to help where we could, and so we decided to hold a donut decorating fundraiser with the money going straight to the Heart Kids foundation who was supporting our customer’s family.”

“We asked for a gold coin donation to attend the decorating workshop and over two days, we raised $900 for their cause,” says Hetal.

The team were so inspired by the success of their recent fundraising that they’re considering how they may come to support another charity later this year.
